A Single Day
Every day we make decisions subconsciously or consciously. Decisions out in public, at work, small, important, big, trivial, reactive and proactive decisions we make in our lives are primarily based on social context. My social context determines how I spend my day. In fact, the society defines what is wrong or right. In this sense, most of my activities are therefore guided by the social norms. That being said, in this paper, I am going to take you through my entire day from morning to evening demonstrating how I influence my social surrounding and how my activities are constrained and guided by the society.
My day begins very early in the morning. This is the time when my minds are most creative and active. I believe that charity begins at home; thus, how you are going to start your day back at home influence how the rest of your day will be like. This is reflected in spending my day on high-value activities, eventually; the desire to spend the rest of the day on such activities. After waking up from a healthy and restful session, I join a group of youth within my community for morning exercises. We formed this group to keep ourselves fit and healthy. This group is strictly for teenagers. According to Silverman et al. (2012), health is another form of a sociological factor. Despite the endless evidence of the need for exercise, a few American men and women engage in a regular physical activity. Wanting to be among the healthy, happy and productive people in the world, getting used to regular exercising will help a big deal. Exercise reduces chances of falling sick from depression, anxiety, and stress and above all it leads to higher success.
After the exercise, I normally have time with God together with my family before I leave for school. With regards to the ministry, our relationship with God compels us to outreach to others. In turn, our experiences in ministry enrich all of us that we are the same before God. Eventually, after arriving at school, the school administration insists on prayers every time. Thus, during break time, on Fridays, we go to the chapel say simple prayers before we go back to class for studies. It is natural and more nourishing when we go as a group praying. These social norms mostly influence my desires and decisions in life. They determine how I interact with people in my social life. Also, it affects my career path as a person.
As a student, anything that falls into the category of deep work is my first consideration. Which to my opinion is a high-value activity? I spend my time on each day reading inspirational books like Think Big, written by Ben Carson and writing stories on what I would like to venture in after my high school studies. I also do drawings of the books to be a little busy. When at school also, socializing and playing with friends is what I prefer. I love being an extrovert student. Talking with friends ensures that there is no conversation going on with my phone. This gives me time to be present in my daily life and interact with the society better. If it is their time, it is for them alone. Because when with friends and not on phone call or texting will give me a little time to get to learn from them as it could have been when the phone is far.
In the evening, I usually go back home from school. This time I spend most of my time on low-value activities, for instance, watching television, listening to the radio and doing the dishes. This becomes a block regarding thinking clearly enough to do creative work with so much noise around. The activities as mentioned earlier add low-value in a day. Starting a day with them will probably not be a successful one. Thus, I frequently do them during the evening.
Before I go to bed, I usually engage in self-introspection, reflection and meditation exercise on how I have spent my day. Reviewing my goals keeps me going subsequently. It never costs a few minutes to go through them; they contain life vision and what the long-term goals are about. This helps me sharpen my perspectives, thinking about them every day and spending most days towards them encourages in that one day they will manifest. A simple pattern helps me in accomplishing them no matter how big they are (Silverman et al., 2012).
Different kinds of social constraints shape my life too. My life is affected by the family I grew up in. The schools and colleges we attend. Friends we interact with. Friends are magnets in that when with those who are positive minded and appreciate by being grateful for them; you will attract more of the same kind. Gratitude is the important key to the success of all virtues.
Having done the above things, I tend to show up a better life. It makes me feel better at school and home. I also become useful in the relationships I engage in, happier, more confident, bolder and daring. Finally, it gives me more clarity and vision. This is because I cannot have doubtful mornings; the things that I despise will disappear and never return. Life changes towards the positive sides. This enhances my interaction with the society I belong to.
