About Social work
Social work might be regarded a profession rather than a calling because it deals with and supports individuals of all ages. Social workers' values and responsibilities include issue solving, social justice, human rights advancement, the well-being of God's creations, emancipation, and social change (Sherwood 9). Our professional values as social workers must not conflict with our personal values, and we must endeavor to be professionals at all times.
According to the reading, one of the responsibilities of a social worker is to assist the most vulnerable members of society. The less fortunate should be considered and especially by the social workers in the society (Hodge 408). They should help the families stay together if possible and should help in the development of the relationships. To ensure a happy life, the social workers are meant to support and help those in need to live happily. The work of the social workers involves a multidisciplinary team which includes other experts and professionals such as health, probation services, and educators so as to ensure that all services aspects of the user's life are well catered for in a situation that help is needed or being discussed (Leventhal 57). Social workers work with a wide array of organizations from working for children to attending for the adult's service departments. Besides social workers also provides their services in hospitals, voluntary, private sector and churches as well (Leventhal 59).
Evenly distribution of resources among all the members of the society is one of the needs of social justice to ensure that the basic needs of the society members are met (Ebears 11). These resources are in most cases difficult for the excluded members of the society to find, and these are the people the social workers are closely working with for a number of reasons to help them benefit.
