In the class discussions, readings, and written work
Personal involvement entailed engaging in intensive research, which focused on anti-bias curriculum. As such, I have been an advocate of anti-bias and remained focused on ensuring that the curriculum that is developed focuses on imparting the best values on children. I have also engaged in intensive research and consultation of different sources to understand the role of anti-bias curriculum in enhancing the attainment of quality education in society. I enjoyed sharing discussions on topics that are related to bias and diversity with colleagues in the classroom. These discussions helped in opening my mind on the learning of the children. Research work also assisted in the discovery of the prejudice that children of the diverse groups encounter within the education environment.
I believe that I did my best in the process of self-discovery
And understanding the role of the anti-bias curriculum in ensuring that children get the best values. However, I would have gained more knowledge if I had practical sessions where I was exposed to the learning environment of children from different cultural backgrounds. Such is because children are aware of their differences, which are based on physical abilities, gender, language, and color at a young age. Hence, such an exposure would help in understanding what diversity issues and equity approach should be adopted in the classroom to ensure that these children co-exist and get the best values.
The risk that I took
Is the creation of an activity, which depicted the cultural differences among the children. As such, the children could see what is different in terms of cultural backgrounds from one another. Such created tension since the children depicted a different behavioral attitude towards individuals that are different from them. A risk that I could have taken is to include the parents of the children in the development of the cultural activities. This could result in parents expressing different opinions and views from one another, as well as expressing the same to their children. Personal feeling of the risk-taking is that it was worth illustrating the essence of unity, understanding, and respect that children should develop towards one another in the learning environment.
Personal contribution to this class
Is that I engaged intensively on the focus of diversity and created practical environments, which were enthusiasm and offered motivation and encouragement for my colleagues to engage in study. I also played a great role as one of the vocal debaters in the group discussions. Others contributed by criticizing my arguments. This created an opportunity for me to focus on doing detailed research so that I can defend my opinions and views on different subjects and topics.
The teaching process was effective
Since it involved the inclusion of class materials and depiction of what is expected to be achieved on different areas and levels at the end of the coursework. There was also an indication of the expected learning outcomes and goals for the entire learning process. Practical activities were included, which helped in grasping the concepts. The experience has worked for me because now I am ready to become an outstanding teacher in society who will produce the best children in the community by offering them the best values. I had the problem of managing different tasks and assignments, but I learned through the learning process how to schedule and manage my time successfully. The only additional comment is that the tutor was lively in the class work.
