Business communication and job hunting
Hunt for Jobs in the Digital Age
Hunt for jobs has greatly influenced the digital by means of technological progression and advancements which have allowed individuals to put in for varieties of job positions within a very concise period of time. Candidates who have interests are allowed to access different job opportunities via websites (which do not exclude Indeed and LinkedIn) that can match up the apprised jobs with the abilities offered on a candidate's profile.
Job positioning has also developed in the era of digital awareness and utility as hirers can make use of tracking software and frameworks to penetrate through resumé's and find out candidates with the features that are required. They can also converse with these candidates, for instance, via LinkedIn, and get to know more about them even before the interview process (Jaffer and Mourshed, 1).
These changes have had both positive and negative effects. Job applicants are able to apply to numerous jobs without having to physically drop their resumes at various offices. Employers also have reduced paperwork as they can access resumes online. One of the detrimental effects of job hunting in the digital age is the fact that it is highly competitive. People all over the world are applying for the same jobs meaning that one has to be creative on how to present their personal information to recruiters (Walter, 1).
The Importance of Asking Questions in an Interview
An interview is a two-way street because it also presents an opportunity to find out if the job is the right fit for you. This means that one should ask the interviewer several questions to determine if the company offers what they are looking for in terms of values and also opportunities for career growth (Warren Wilson College, 7). Some of the questions to ask are what the organizational culture of the company is and where the company is headed in the next five years.
