Cause and Effect Essay on Divorce
The unprecedented rate at which divorce cases are recorded is a major source of concern in today's society. Divorce, by definition, is the formal breakup of a couple's union. It is arguably the most significant issue in the modern world, given that cases of separation were unusual in the past. As a result, it is necessary to investigate the causes of the increase in divorce rates as well as the consequences of such cases. Divorce is a major problem in today's culture, owing to shifting social dynamics and pressure on young people to marry, with negative consequences for girls, women, and men.
Divorce is a complex subject that is multifaceted and is rarely as a result of one cause. One of the primary reasons is the raid change in the values of the society (Dronkers, Kalmijn, and Wagner 479). The traditional rules that defined marriage in the past have changed in the last few decades as people embrace the new lifestyles. As a result, families no longer tend to stay together and it is common to find that people are living away from their parents. Furthermore, women are working far away from home and they do not play the domestic roles that were expected of them in the past. The other trend that is acting as a cause cause of divorce is the pressure that is placed on young adults to marry (Dronkers, Kalmijn, and Wagner 480). It is a common trend today to find that young people are rushing into marriage with the parents playing a key role in many instances by advocating for it. It means that the affected groups of individuals will feel that it is mandatory to get married and in the process they end up in wrong relationships.

As a result of the rise in cases of separation between two previously engaged individuals, the outcome has been adverse effects on various dimensions. A notable setback is the outcome that such separations have on children. In many cases, the children of divorced parents have challenges developing socially and emotionally because of the trauma that is associated with being raised by a single parent (Dronkers, Kalmijn, and Wagner 481). Inadequate social support in homes and the difficulties in adjusting to new families often adversely affects a child’s psychological development. The other effect is manifested on women because, after a divorce, it becomes difficult for a woman to find someone to marry. Furthermore, there is an associated problem where women are likely to experience financial problems because they of the increased responsibilities especially if a child is considered. Sometimes, the trauma could translate into depression as it happens in cases where the woman is prevented from seeing her children. Finally, it is critical to examine the effects that are perceived by men because in such cases, they will end up looking for foreign wives and girlfriends in the hope that they will get a suitable partner (Dronkers, Kalmijn, and Wagner 481). However, they may also find it hard to get a potential suitor. In other cases, there could be problems dealing with the children especially when the woman leaves the man with the mandate of taking care of the children.
In summary, it is worth noting that divorce is a huge problem in the society today. It is caused by the changes in domestic and societal trends and the pressure imposed on young people to marry. Often, the outcomes are perceived in the context of not only children but their parents are well.
