Communication Role in Friendship
A friendship develops from the existence of a mutual appreciation of one another or each other. As such, persons need to invest their energies, time, and ideas to find people with comparable characters that foster naturally bonding. Hence, human beings exemplify social animals that cannot live in seclusions. Communication, thus, is the mechanism and the bridge thru which man communicates with other humans to set up understanding, develop feelings and affections as properly as the trust between each different and among others to develop working relationships, acceptance, and support.
Subsequently, conversation establishes two common types of friendships which include utility and virtue friendships. The utility friendship is the type of relationship the place individual use each other to acquire something and satisfy their interests at the end. Utility friendship characterizes business partnerships and is often affected by communication technology devices and media. Virtue friendship, on the other hand, is a relationship that follows certain rules that regulate the development and function (Varrato, 2013). This kind friendship sustains and maintains intimate shared activities that occur over time, up to the point when one perfectly comes to identify with the friend. Virtue friendship comes with responsibilities and sacrifices to increase understanding, individual happiness, and satisfaction of individual expectations.
However, the aforementioned friendships can be affected by the internet of things including social networks. People refer to their friends birthday dates on Facebook rather than remembering the particular day (Varrato, 2013). As a result, they lose the thread of bonding with friends. The challenges can be overcome through changing the attitude towards social media by resisting negative influence by technological devices and working communication through conversation with the person next to you or visiting them often to share experiences.
