Critique of Research
The purpose of this study
The purpose of this study clearly explains that the technology of cognitive load theory is expected to be studied and applied in teaching some of the most difficult subjects, such as algebra, in the classroom. This goal covers the vital element of the research in that it reveals the primary notion that the study will resolve and none the less it points out the significance of the study. On the other hand, the report provides all the measures required to accomplish its goals by offering a clear description of how the goal can be accomplished. The methodology of the research may not totally achieve its aim since it does not provide conclusive explanation on how technology shall be employed in a accomplishing the CLT since the aim of the study stated that the CLT technology would be used to enhance learning. Secondly, this aims introduces the lessons plans by the potential grantee however it does not go into detail in explaining this aspect and how it will be accomplished and its importance to the research (Carlson, 2013).
Background
The literature review goes into detail to explain the WM or the working memory which is a short term memory, and only stores information for 30 seconds. It also explains that this memory will take only three to five processes at an instant and the brain will always clear this memory to free up space for more processing. This study does provide a clear problem facing the memory storage capacity of the problem however the research states how if the management of the brain memory is sufficient then the study of algebra will not be difficult. However, the background does not give enough evidence to the problem whereby and the need for the study. The background wells so much in the scientific aspects of the memory without giving the practical aspect of the memory and how these aspects shall be reached at. The literature review gives the significance of the study in that his theory will help in boosting the memory retention and make the study of algebra easy in schools. However, there exist gaps because of the study lack clear step by step explanation of the CLT theory and technology (Selvin, 2008).
Significance
Proposed study will improve the scientific knowledge in that its successful execution will provide knowledge and information on how to improve the retention ability of the brain by transferring as much information from the short-term memory to the long-term memory. The science of memory has been limited to the areas of application and improving this, memory, but this study will empower the scientist with the knowledge on how to improve the memory of individuals. This study is significant due to its technical capabilities in that the study will empower the student’s learners on how to retain information in the brain and to transfer the information form the short-term memory to the long-term memory (Selvin, 2008).
Methodology
The proposed methodology provides answers to the hypothesis however its briefness makes it less commanding. The proposed hypothesis could have been longer and more detailed then the study would have conclusively reached its target. Secondly, the research participant in the study is few for a meaningful conclusion to be arrived at. The proposed methodology is not sufficient to arrive at the specific aims however the results will be found but will not be conclusive enough to cover the project and give the aim since the sample size should be big enough to justify the scientific demands as well as the statistical values (Lenth, 2001).
