Culture of The Masculine Gender
Notably, there is a difference between gender and sex. Gender is categorized as masculine of feminine; how the society and contemporary culture defines someone. On the other hand, sex is the biological ascription or definitive of an individual. As such, the sex of an individual as commonly known can be male or female. Therefore, I am of the masculine gender and male sex. This gender excites me; I find myself exploring much than I need, always up to knowing something knew and for that matter a little bit challenging. The masculinity in me makes me feel I should do tough things like when people are driving I think I should be walking, while my friends are playing a simple sport on the pitch I feel I should try a tougher sport. While talking to my friends, I find myself persuasive, whichever course I deem fit for us to partake, I always get a way to persuade them. This has helped me bring together friends who are now like family to me. It has also helped me in bargaining things as simple as deadlines and price on clothes or commodities.
It is involving to be masculine, you have to be active and be where you are needed. Failure to do so, you find yourself a lazy man. Similarly, it is challenging to be masculine, much is expected from you and you are required not to fault. People like me who are first-borns in their house are expected to coordinate everything when parents are away; this means one should be keen to what happens at home when the parents are around to avoid digressing from the normal.
Positives
Challenges motivated me; this is a rare element in most people. I am the type of person who would eat a pizza type that never had just for the sake of knowledge and posterity (Simone). I am most likely to push to the limit even past designated deadlines to ensure I attain the required or desired results. This is why I find myself good at working under pressure, an element in me that I am trying hard to battle. As earlier said, the masculine gender is expected to take roles, and as such, I am expected to be a leader especially where I am the only male in the population. If it is the night yet there are other elder ladies, I am the one who is asked to escort visitors to the parking lot or neighbors to their homes. I find it unfair but an opportunity and a shot to leadership. Importantly, the masculine gender makes one feel that he is in command, as such, it easy to control other siblings at home or fellow students while pursuing a certain course of action.
Afflictions
The masculine gender expects one to be in command, resultantly, I find myself being dictatorial. I dictate my siblings to do different chores in the house without listening to them, sometimes I find myself having made my siblings wash dishes that they had already washed. This transcends to me being egocentric (Heyden). My relationships always have me dominating, wanting to control every decision making process. Furthermore, I am keen to what one says and when my ego is hurt I am always tempted to avenge verbally although I have managed to stop the behavior and be flexible to the different people around me.
Moreover, I tend to be self-centered. Decisions that I make are always about me then others follow. This has affected my interaction with my closest friends. They cite that I do not have them in mind while making my plans but when they are making theirs I want to be involved. Lastly, I have learned that I am not very keen to procedures; this can be attributed to the carefree element of being masculine. Fortunately, I am able to control my shortcomings and shape the person I am for a better me and coexistence with others.
