Effective Communication for Businesses
The advent of the digital age has exceedingly changed how job searching operates because of the technological improvements which has opened up opportunities for people to apply for vacancies in the shortest time period. Jobseekers can then, through the use of job seeking platforms such as Indeed or LinkedIn, have access to connect to jobs with the skills advertised so long they match the skills on their profile. Employers have also found job placement easier since certain tracking systems can now help filter through the large number of applications to find employees who are qualified for the spot they are looking to fill. Connecting with those candidates is also possible and employers can get to know who they’ll be employing. They are also able to interact with these candidates, for instance through LinkedIn, and get to know more about them even before the interview process (Bernard, 1).
These changes have had both positive and negative effects. Job applicants are able to apply to numerous jobs without having to physically drop their resumes at various offices. Employers also have reduced paperwork as they can access resumes online. One of the detrimental effects of job hunting in the digital age is the fact that it is highly competitive. People all over the world are applying for the same jobs meaning that one has to be creative on how to present their personal information to recruiters (Millet, 1).
An interview is a two-way street because it also presents an opportunity to find out if the job is the right fit for you. This means that one should ask the interviewer several questions to determine if the company offers what they are looking for in terms of values and also opportunities for career growth (WayUp Inc, 1). Some of the questions to ask are what the organizational culture of the company is and where the company is headed in the next five years.
