Essay About Obesity Issue
Being excessively obese or overweight is a symptom of obesity. Since studies have demonstrated that some obesity issues have genetic roots and are hereditary in nature, there are a number of mechanisms and causative agents for this illness, including environmental variables and the genetic setup. Environmental factors are one of the conditions causes. One of the factors contributing to the condition is the rise in per capita food supplies and consumption, particularly that of high-calorie foods and pleasant foods that are typically offered in greater portions (Sharma and Campbell-Scherer 660-661). People have become more sedentary as a result of the introduction and development of technology, among other environmental factors. Eventually, they become overweight due to the lack of exercise.
Obesity usually manifests itself at a young age since it has been observed that children love sweet-tasting food much more compared to the ones that do not taste sweet (Ramos Salas, Forhan and Sharma 189-196). If these children are not taught how to eat healthily or exposed to foods such as fruits and vegetables, they grow up to become persons who eat large quantities of high calorie foods, which eventually leads to obese condition during their adolescence and young adulthood years. Compared to the normal agemates, measuring the size of the patient is the main phylogenic analysis that can be done in order to understand the condition.
The adaptive hypothesis that can be derived in the study of the cases of obesity in a population is “most children who love sweetened meals, as well as sweets, will grow up to become obese”. To test the hypothesis, children of the same age who prefer sweet tasting meals and sweets would be examined and then their growth progress observed and recorded.
