Federal Government - Public Opinion
The aims of polling in the discernment of popular views and why they are useful in the study of public opinions. In discerning public preferences, the primary goal of polling is to express the views of people of a particular group or even the nation in general by a random sampling that does not entail a survey by anyone (Bond & Smith, 2016). In explaining popular views, these surveys are important because they show people's points of view so that elected parties will know where they stand with the citizens. If a single demographic is surveyed, it is generally used to generalize surveys. I believe polls are helpful in explaining the opinion of the public as they are measurement tools used to relay information of how people feel about a specific topic. Polls aid in giving of statistics in regards to the general population which in turn can be utilized to assist in achieving what the citizens want and need (Bond & Smith, 2016).
The difference between liberalism and conservatism in regards to economic and social matters.
The political beliefs among liberals and conservatives are usually very different. The most common variation among them is that liberals tend to support a government that is more open and centralized which will provide more equality (Gérard, 2012). Conservatives, on the other hand, prefer a state where the citizens will be less involved, and the private sector will be free to do as they please. In regards to the economic side, liberals have an inclination that the government should act as an arbitrator and regulator for the good of the citizens whereby those who are wealthy receive a heavier tax while the poor are invested in more. Conservatives, however, prefer that taxes and spending should be on the lower side and a type of market that is free from interference (Gérard, 2012). In regards to societal issues liberals usually favor a more affirmative action and freedom of choice about abortion and are opposed to prayer in school conservatives, on the other hand, are the opposite of this and do not agree abortion should be a choice and also support prayers in school (Gérard, 2012).
