Fractal Periodization
Periodization involves systematic progression that is necessitated through the study of the pattern of change and training variables related to resistance training programs. There are several literatures that have been written detailing the concepts underlying Periodization and the raining strength that is involved in them. The related studies have compared Periodization schemes on athletes that had been untrained or even uninjured. The fact that is quite easy to relate to Periodization is the predictability in the study patterns.
The article discusses the theory of fractal similarity in close proximity to periodization. Also, it attempts to establish the evolutionary relationship between the variations in the numerous cycles of the training program that takes a yearlong to complete. In carrying out a discussion involving the same, it is quite imperative to take keen interest on the fitness components that may be involved. In designing the major cycles involved, elucidating the periodization concept is crucial. This is the approach that is commonly referred to as fractal periodization. The general definition of a fractal object is that which becomes similar to itself when there is a considerable increase in the magnification of the same object (Marquet et al., 2016).
The idea that encompasses magnification of objects is that people have close proximity views of them. In this scenario, the closer one looks after magnification is the more they seem to envision the slip similarity that is shared between the object they see and the one initially magnified. A good example that is presented in the article is the coast of California. The view that one gets when they look down at it from a plane is that of an irregular and craggy element. There is no variation at all if the coast is viewed from space. This implies that it perfectly befits a fractal object (Rønnestad et al., 2014).
This article has significantly changed the way I used to think about periodization training. I used to think of training juts as any other form of exercise to maintain physical fitness or maintain the effectiveness of players in their lines of specialization. In reading the piece, it has come to my attention that periodization training is done following procedural steps and protocols that if followed, the program would give great outcomes. The article sheds light on the misconceptions that most people have had for long regarding the training of both players and athletes and in line with the same, it gives succinct clarification (Franchini et al., 2015). In so doing, it helps the readers and those undertaking researcher related to training to have a clear comprehension of the process involved. The training program should be carried out in a manner that is procedural and planed if at all there is the objectivity of arriving at desirable results.
The way in which an article helps is pegged on the interpretation that one has on the same and how they reason out when going through it. I have gone through the article and I am happy that it has helped me learn a lot that I did not initially have a clue about. I have taken time to process the information and I am quite sure that it would be very handy in designing an effective training program that is not only easy to follow but one that is also promising (Franchini et al., 2015). However, training programs greatly differ and the only way to ensure that one inculcated into system gives the anticipated outcome is to formulate a training program that is in tandem with the type of activity involved (Rønnestad et al., 2014). The session that a player is meant to have should vary from the one that an athlete undertakes. This is simply because the amount and level of commitment is highly dependent on the skills that the one intends to have in the long run.
Since the skills one has acquired are a perfect demonstration of their seriousness in training, I intend to come up with a training program that is not only procedural in nature but also effective in ensuring that the players and athletes I will be dealing with get the most out of their training sessions. However, before developing and planning the sessions, I have to make it apparently clear to the players the reason as to way they will be going through the program just as stated I the article (Rønnestad et al., 2014). Thereafter, I’ll start with the sessions that are easy to master then get to the ones that are both complex and advanced. This is because players and athletes find the training program manageable if they take it step by step. However, if it is done in a manner suggesting that they start with those that are demanding, some of them would not enjoy because they would often be discouraged with the sessions.
The variation that is involved in the training that should be offered to athletes and players makes it a necessity to ensure that fractal periodization is followed in the development of the training programs (Franchini et al., 2015). The games may look the same but in the actual sense; they require varying training programs and methods to prepare. The article made me understand this concept and I will use it when developing a strong training program.
