Gap of wage between Men and Women
In the report, the underlying factors behind the large salary gap between women and men are identified. Research findings indicate that the difference is driven by the decisions women make to choose less lucrative topics, which result in lower paid careers being secured and therefore in low-career positions (Blau & Lawrence, 2016). While it can provide reduced working hours and flexibility in such a position, the overall impact on their earnings is often negative. In a study by the US Census Bureau, women earn 21% less than the income of their husbands (Holder, 2017). The gap in the gender pay further varied depending on the states that the targeted populations were in. Other interesting findings have revealed that employment bias affects women wages. Employers tend to look down at women and consider them as not being flexible enough to execute tough tasks.
As part of the long-term recommendations, women are advised to pick tougher subjects that will place them at an equal chance to their male counterparts in securing jobs that offer high salaries and wages. Employment bias has been a problem that is difficult to deal with. However, the long term solution is the use of scientific method in the selection of candidates where they are assigned in offices that they are best fit depending on their acquired skills and experiences. The scientific method of selection does not discriminate on the basis of gender or other commonly discriminating factors in the selection and recruitment processes such as sex, race, nationality, age, religion and political affiliations. It is therefore upon the organization to come up with legislations to effectively apply the rational and objective recruitment procedure.
