Global warming effect
Since the 1980s, scientists have recorded and averaged an increase in Earth's temperature to 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit (Khandekar, 2010). Also scientists were initially cautious of this slow mechanism, but the growing adverse effects of this threat on habitats and human beings are increasingly drawing environmental concerns. As a part of this situation, leading environmental groups are invested heavily in studying the impact of global warming and how best humans will respond to the threat. This paper would also discuss some of the impacts of this method. Any of the global warming effects are now apparent and felt across the globe. These effects include but not limited to;
Melting of glacier
Increasing global temperatures means high levels of melting glacier that will present a number of challenges to the mankind. For example, loss of ecosystems and wildlife in arctic regions, Glacier National Park in Montana that had of 150 glaciers now has only 25 glaciers left endangering several species according to the U.S Geological Survey (USGS). Moreover, the diminishing Arctic flows to major oceans resulting to raising sea levels, which in turn will lead to flooding in major coastal towns as witness along the Gulf of Mexico and Quaint coastal towns that are starting to experience devastating floods (Khandekar, 2010).
Climate change
Unpredictable weather patterns are starting to be experienced in different parts of the globe. Increased precipitation such as rain notably are noticed in polar and sub-polar regions than before, and as global warming continues, the more heavy rains will be experienced in this parts due to increased evaporation (Bergado, et al, 2010). Even as human population is largely affected, plants that cannot adapt fast to the climate change will die while animals will migrate to other area thus adversely affecting the entire ecosystem of the region. However, as other regions experience heavy down pour, other regions will have to adopt new ways of addressing severe drought.
Certain parts of the western U.S.A has continued to experience drought, resulting from warm waves and lack of precipitation. This condition is contributing to disappearance of whole forests such as trees in Colorado’s Rockies. Moreover, African nations are not being spared either, this parts may experience severe droughts cause by large scale of evaporation. Already most of this countries are facing challenges in water accessibility hence the situation may worsen as some parts individuals are already experiencing malnutrition (Bergado, et al, 2010).
Diseases
Global warming is currently contributing to high health burden in most countries. Cholera is easily spread across during flooding while as global temperatures warms up, vectors such as mosquitoes that could not otherwise have survive certain climatic conditions are increasingly encroaching this new locations. As a result government spending on health increases causing more economic burden.
Agriculture
Plants are the major source of food globally to both humans and animals. However, effects of global warming are being felt in different countries due to rising unpredictable weather patterns such as droughts and flooding (Ali, 2012). Therefore, shortage in food supply could lead to wars and conflicts. A part from that, if food processing industries cannot meet the demand in the market, prices will hit the sky resulting into inflations and disorient economies. The most affected will be African countries that rely on Agricultural practice as their economic back-borne as oppose to European manufactures.
Ali argue that scientists are working tirelessly to develop transgenic plants and animals through recombinant DNA technology that have the ability to endure these climatic changes such as drought so as to continue feeding the rapidly growing population. However, this technology also faces challenges as critics question its long term safety.
Conclusion
Global warming is real and is happening, since 90% causes have been identified to be human activities, its only advisable to focus on new technologies that will be environmentally friendly so as to reduce its impact and slow down the rate at which it occurs.
