This post responds to an article by Samenow, Fritz, and Porter published on the Washington Post website on August 27, 2017, titled "Catastrophic Flooding Experienced in Houston and 'Expected to Worsen." According to Samenow and colleagues, Houston is currently experiencing the worst fears of flooding due to close to three feet of rain in Southeast Texas, as well as the National Weather Service's forecast that there will be more rain to come. That, according to Samenow and colleagues, was the most extreme rainfall the area has ever seen. The article also states that rainfall rates in Houston will most likely exceed three inches per hour in Houston in the coming days given the already-submerged state of the city of Houston.

This post relates to an article posted on Live Science website by Tia Ghose titled "Hurricane Season 2017 Guide." According to Ghose, hurricane season in the Atlantic characterized by torrential downpours, whipping winds, floods, and power outages. Besides, it brings with it a host of dangerous and dramatic weather. The 2017 Atlantic hurricane season officially started in 1st June and will continue until 30th November. On the other hand, according to the National Weather Service, the 2017 hurricane season in the Eastern Pacific Ocean started in 15th May and will continue until 30th November. However, according to the Climate Prediction Center of the National Weather Service, most of the strong storms occur during the peak periods of hurricane season on both coasts, that is between August and October.
