In the Iron Bridge Gorge area, human activity has influenced the physical environment in various ways. Similarly, the physical environment has played a role in developing human activity in the same place. First and foremost, this region is recognized worldwide as a symbol of the Industrial Revolution (Jones 2011). It is defined by all aspects of progress that played a significant role in the rapid growth of this industrial area in the 18th century (Greenfield 2012). The physical environment in the area is still being shaped by human activity. The physical environment currently consists of several mine sites and railway lines—furthermore, the construction of the iron bridge in the area has considerably influenced the developments in the architecture and technology’s fields (Bhosale 2016)
This area provides the raw materials for revolutionizing industrial processes.
