Mental Model: the individual thought process
The way a thought process is explained oh how things work out in reality is referred to as Mental model. In other words, it can also be defined as a physical portrayal of imaginary or hypothetical situations. Mental model represents how the different components of an individual's intuitive insights are in a relationship with facts and consequences (Graham, 2013). Similar problems relating to one’s personal algorithm can be resolved using the mental model. For instance, when the problems that people face in their day-to-day life is understood, companies can find out to manage different behaviors at the workplace. The understanding of the world needs the natural knowledge that fully depends on the persons perception of different life events; consequently, the organizational events also require experience in order to aid the understanding of different operational procedures. A mental model is, therefore, a necessary concept that can be applied in the above scenario to solve diverse challenges that may thrive at different times (Johnson-Laird, 2013). The idea of the mental model is essential because it affects what people see and believe. In the real world situation, two individuals with different mental models can observe a similar event but describe it differently since every person concentrates on dissimilar details. In an organizational setup, people tend to concentrate on the different field of operation; this is due to the diversity in skills and specialization areas. The application of the mental model is therefore essential in the above case since it will determine what different individuals are capable of doing (Johnson-Laird, 2013). For example, managing workers in an organization require an understanding of the real world and the nature of the people; managers that fail to apply the mental model are therefore prone to managerial failures.
Changing the mental model can aid the understanding of different environmental situations and how the world operates. Understanding the world is essential in embracing the human diversity and challenges encountered in thinking and acting.
