Persuasion
The major technique or principle utilized in writing the memo was the use of persuasion. This was due to the fact it’s the easiest way to convince the recipient of what is being conveyed in writing. The memo used to be intended to convince the General manger of two indispensable aspects of the company involving the distinction between the employees and interns. Some of the concepts applied in conveying the message in the memo include: The first style used to be the use of reasons why. This was in addition informed of the use of the word due to the fact since people effortlessly get convinced of something each time they encounter the word because since it introduces reasons why something is they it is. It is equally true that for people to be receptive to a given line of thinking, it must have been reasons why must be provided (Rubin & Rafoth, 1986). Another technique used is the use of consistency. This was demonstrated in the memo by the fact that there was consistency in the way ideas were presented especially the determinants of whether an intern should be paid or not.
In addition, comparisons were also employed in the writing the memo to some extent. This was necessitated by the fact that it helps in persuading the recipient of the information in considering things from the point of view of the reader. This style is more effective in that it entails use of an analogy to express a point by comparing two things (Ferretti et al, 2000). Like in the case of the memo, the internship was being viewed as an opportunity not thus comparing it with a learning process.
