Reflection Paper: Freudian Revolution
Sigmund Freud - Freud's theories have a tremendous impact on contemporary society and the arts. He developed psychoanalysis (the talking treatment), which is used to treat mental illnesses and to understand human behavior. He still convinced that an individual's intellect was fully responsible for their desires. This logic was combined with psychoanalysis to generate patient outcomes. It could not, however, manage the negative psychological frame of mind. His approaches of psychoanalysis included free association and stream of consciousness.
Carl Jung - Jung popularized the concept of archetypal subconsciousness. He emphasized the themes and repeating components in people's dreams. Moreover, he tried to understand their application to the subjects' psyches and mental wellbeing. He became aware that conscious and partially-conscious thoughts could result in internal wars. The solution to these conflicts would be releasing subdued ideas into one’s awareness. This hence brings about individuation, a feeling of inner harmony.
Marcel Proust-In his literature works, he brought into light how memories and wants distract the unaware mind. He did a sober examination of the workings of the mind. This, in general, showed the impact of new psychology on literature in the modern world.
Summary
Psychoanalysis involves theories and methods of psychotherapy used to find connections among patients’ unconscious mental processes. Freud demonstrates that reason is the excellent tool to dictate instinctual desire. For instance, his social theory rotates its ideas around reason. Based upon psychoanalytic insight, it (reason) holds the capability to influence the catastrophic components of the psyche to an individual. I agree with this theory. This is because a person's judgment directly translates into his actions, either negative or positive.
