Significant Trip with My Family
The Long-Awaited Journey
It was the time of year again, and the long-awaited journey had finally begun. I was paying a visit to my grandmother after a year of not seeing her. I usually just see her once a year, and this time I was just as happy as I had always been. The journey was long, and I was tired by the time we had covered half of it. I slept on many times along the way, but I knew it was always worth it to see my grandmother in her Canada.
Reuniting with Grandmother
When we landed, the first thing I noticed was the iconic cottage that had been there for decades. I cannot remember having witnessed it being built because all my life, I had only seen it there meaning that it was older than me. The environment was serene and unchanged from how I had left it twelve months ago with birds chirping in the background. All this time, my grandmother was seated under a tree in the nearby and she did not seem as excited as I was likely because she had been used to people visiting her or due to her aging body. Nevertheless, it did not deny her the opportunity to smile as I approached her and embraced her because I was always excited to see her. After talking for about half an hour, I noticed she was becoming dizzy and I immediately suggested that she should consider taking a nap as I got other things done. When she consented, I knew the party time had started because I knew it was the time to engage in what we loved most in Canada.
The Joy of Swimming in the Lake
My excitement would always start with visiting the lake where I suggested we go swimming before grandmother woke up. As I was the most influential, at least based on how my friends perceive me, my family agreed, and within no time we were in the warm waters of the lake. I had brought my dirty bike along because I always thought that it would be inappropriate to go swimming without my locomotive device. We had so much fun and even used the canoe because we believed that visiting the late was not worth it unless we had the breeze from the winds over our heads. I cherished the moment more when I remembered that I only get the opportunity once in a year.
Adventures in the Woods
When we came from the lake, my sister suggested that it was the time to hit the ground and go to engage in some form of adventure in the words. We picked up the equipment and I preferred my pellet gun. We dashed from our grandmother’s house and within no time we were in the forest. The routine was always to be followed because the first thing was to engage in the shooting episodes in the woods. I never used to love the target-shooting screen despite the fact I always had my favorite pellet gun and bow and arrow. Instead, I would thrive in the fruit picking session. I would always be the more relied upon in the group because I could easily get as much of it as possible. It was amazing because the picking process looked so real that it seemed we used to do it every day. Thereafter, we would roast the marshmallows and make smores of fire. We used to call it the story time session because it was the hour to engage in all type of stories besides the fire. I personally loved this because of my extreme social skills and talkative nature that all my friends found appealing. It was a moment to bond as a family in a setting where we did not have to worry about schedule, deadlines, and technology because my sister was always fond of sitting lonely on her phone.
The Revelation
Finally, it was the time to bond go back to the grandmother’s compound after the adventure. She was seated in a disoriented state, and she seemed to be deep in thought. I confronted her and asked her if there was any matter of concern. It was then that she revealed that when our grandfather passed on, she realized that she would not be able to meet her needs as she did when he was alive. She narrated a touching story that involved lacking money for a long time until she got tempted and decided that she would have to sell the cottage to survive. The revelation came as a huge shock because she had never hinted on selling it neither did anyone believe that it was real. I realized how much of treasure we had lost and that I could no longer visit her.
Cherished Memories
To this day, I always think about the great times I had up there with my family and I am upset that my grandmother had to sell her cottage. As we were traveling back, I contemplated how important it is to keep in touch with our loved ones and solve their problems before it is too late.
