Strategies to Improve the Quality of Health Care
This is because this program has contributed significantly to the improvement of the health care system of the United States of America. As such, the per capital cost experienced in the health care is minimized and healthier populations are being seen in society (Berwick, Nolan & Whittington, 2008). Moreover, patients are obtaining better experiences of health care. It is because of this that Commonwealth Fund Commission has being able to offer a “Scorecard” of 66 percent. The health care system is now able to offer a good report on the area of effectiveness, safety, timeliness, equity, efficiency, and patient-centeredness. Such occurs as the will, knowledge, incentives, and measurements are being utilized as the key tools of improving the safety of patients in society.
Strategies of improving the quality initiatives of health care
A key strategy is the adoption of the “Minute Clinics” or the medical homes, which are focused on the provision of primary care to patients in the community (Stiefel & Nolan, 2012). Such would assist in ensuring that primary health care delivery is enhanced at an affordable cost to the patients. This is because the cost of transporting patients is minimized and centralized focus on the health care providers on patients is enhanced.
Challenges or opportunities
The challenge for this strategy is the intensive government expenditure, which has to be focused on ensuring that quality service delivery occurs in society. This is because health care providers have to be provided with a means of transport to ensure that they reach the destination of the patients in community. However, such a strategy has a great opportunity of saving lives and ensuring that community members’ health issues are addressed significantly.
