The Acrobatic Performance at the Gym
The acrobatic art I attended presented a gymnastic component that looked like a circus. People walked on high-hanging tight ropes in the air. The diving and ballet, which were the athletic activities of the acrobats, as stated by Gibson and Marshall (2016), kept me entertained. I saw various types of athletics I have only seen in pictures. As an example, in an aerial activity, an acrobat was suspended in a rope above. While hanging in the rope above, they began to dance vigorously. In performing arts, artists who participate are make use of their bodies, face and presence as the art medium. This performance included an acrobat who directly used his body to communicate with the audience (Myers 56). The aerial type was significant to the visitors, as it kept them agile throughout the show, while the hand and tightrope walking helped the performers in motor coordination. Acrobatic is related to other kinds of art performances, as it included the audience, stage director manager, costumes among the rest. Moreover, it was played on stage, involving all the non-verbal cues, used by the performers’ namely body movement and gestures, as outlined by Myers (59).
The aerial acrobat made me question the kind of flexibility some people have. Viewing someone suspended on a rope and yet performing was debatable. The art was amusing though implausible; how can someone constantly hang on a string and actively perform without getting tired? Overall, the reality hit me that what is recorded about the acrobats is true and is presented by real people, not cartoons as I had imagined.
