The Birth of King Jamil
My Journey into Parenthood
My parents used to tell me that the joy of being a parent was unfathomable. My mother said to me that it was the best thing that had ever happened to her. After my parents gave me an in-depth continuous lecture on parenting, I started to agree with them. As a result, I was always looking forward to the day when I would have my children.

Falling in Love
I met the love of my life a few years later; he was so special, loving, and caring. My life changed after I met him; he was talented in all areas and provided me with valuable life advice. We decided to have a child as our relationship progressed. When this suggestion came up I was not in any doubt of the fact that I will like to have a kid for my fiancée, I got pregnant and went through all the process form visiting the clinic for scans and checks to the determination of my child’s sex. The process was all filled with excitement on till we got toward the time of delivery.

The Unexpected Arrival
Although I had an idea of the expected delivery date, I was caught up with many activities at the time because it was a couple of weeks to the delivery date. However on November 12th at about ten forty-five pm I was downstairs trying to sort out something in the laundry room I also decided to wash some clothes. It was also a thanksgiving day, so I knew my family of six would be feeding on a sumptuous meal of turkey. Suddenly I feel a trickling down my legs, and then an enormous gush of liquid come behind it. I instantly yelled to my fiancé “BAAABBBEEEEE MY WATER JUST BROKE!!!” My fiancé is practically leaped down the stairs and says “maybe you’re just peeing on yourself”” and after seeing the huge lake on our floor, he quickly took the joke back. We immediately rushed to the hospital.

The Labor and Delivery
Upon arrival, I was instantly hooked up to the monitors in labor and delivery room at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital. My contractions were two minutes apart, and I was three centimeters dilated. When the doctor arrived, she only looked at me and said with excitement in her voice, “You’re going to be having Jamil today!” For a second time that night we panicked. It was indeed happening. Our first child was coming early. Three weeks and four days early to be exact; with an unfinished nursery and about 1 hour away from my fiancé celebrating his 24th birthday. Oh yeah, I forgot to add is my dad’s birthday was an hour away. Our son was coming soon and quite fast might I add. I got an epidural because those contractions were kicking my behind. The nurse told me to get some rest because the baby would be here soon and she was correct because as soon as I woke up from the prescribed rest, I was ready to start pushing. Hence, on November 13th at precisely 5:44 am Jamil Camdyn Terry was born.

The Joy of Parenting
There is need to also point out after the birth of my baby I remembered once again the tales of the joy of parentage that was always told to me by my parents, so I said to myself maybe they intentionally left out the part that I had to push, and the pain will be terrible. However looking into the eyes of my child I can to conclusively say that at the sight of a newborn child all the pain disappears. The arrival of my baby was the best thing that ever happened in my entire life; I love Jamil with all my heart and never regretted giving birth to him.
