The ever famous German: Albrectht Durer
Making a great contribution in books and education through his high quality wood work and print work, Albrectht Durer was a German born in 1971and established his reputation as a painter, printmaker and theorist across Europe. He made a lot of contributions in books and teaching while he was a prolific writer on the human body. His boosk were mostly into logarithm, tangents, and cylinders, among other mathematical topics. He was also a seasoned painter and designer for woodcuts for books, and this helped in promoting his materials and educational books. Albrectht Durer disbursed his work all over europe. This way, he promoted his work, and this also included the spiritual values his work was communicating. Mass production is described as making of similar goods in large quantities. Durer disseminated his mass produced print work throughout Europe. By doing so, he promoted his work. This included the spiritual values his work was communicating. Mass production is economical and it enables many people to access the products (Kurth, 22). Therefore, Durer was able to self-promote himself through this technique making him an internationally renowned artist while influencing religious and philosophical opinions of others.
Before printing press was invented, life was very different. Drawings and writings were done by hand. A variety of materials were used. This includes, clay and wax. These tools were used to transcribe books by special people in the society (Kurth, 59). This was a slow process and most of the communication was done through oral means. Fortunately, the population was not vast and therefore communicating orally was enough.
Making single prints refers to printing only one copy of a piece of literature or photograph. Therefore, only one hardcopy piece of the work is made with no duplicates. It is usually a single page and the work is not broad. On the other hand, making a book is the process of bringing together many single prints and combining them to form a bigger piece with many prints called a book. It is usually made of many pages (Kurth, 02). Therefore, many single prints can be used to make a book.
One of the most appealing works of Durer is his print of The Expulsion from Eden. The portrait is medium sized and made of wood. The work is monogrammed dated with Dürer’s initials written on the upper right part. This piece of art is particularly intriguing because it shows a sense of urgency and action. It is a piece which captures the particular moment when Adam and Eve were forced to leave the Garden of Eden. Moreover, despite the chilly forest, both Adam and Eve are nude (Kurth, 67). The dramatic work shows Eve covering her nudity with a branch while leaving the garden in a hurry stepping on Adam’s foot. Adam is portrayed to be taking a backward last glance. This piece is very creative and catchy proving Dürer’s ability and talent.
