The Governor
Gregory Wayne Abbott is the current Governor of Texas. He was born on November 13th, 1957 in a city called Wichita Falls. Currently, he is 57 years old and is a member of the Republican Party (Texas.gov). Gregory is the 50th Governor since the United States of America adopted the State form of Government. He is of male gender and belongs to the white racial classification of people. Apart from his political experience and career, he is a learned person who has studied Law (Texas.gov). Gregory Abbot graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in the year 1981 from the University of Texas, Austin.
He is of English decency and came from a very humble background. Some of the primary functions and responsibilities of the office of the Governor include making and implementing policies, controlling the state budget, vetoing bills, and controlling the state’s military forces. It is also important to note the fact that the Governor acts as the head of State or Government, thereby all of the State duties and activities have to be approved by the Governor’s office. Currently, the position of Secretary of State the is held by Rolando Pablos who was appointed by the Governor Greg Abbot. Rolando Pablos was sworn into the agency on January the 5th, 2017. Pablos was born in the year 1967, currently he is 50 years old. Originally, the Secretary of State was born in Mexico. Rolando Pablos graduated from St. Mary’s University with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology; he also has an M.B.A from Texas University (Texas.gov). The Secretary of State has a vast experience both in his field of study and political area of expertise. Before Pablos was appointed as the Secretary of State, he was an active member of the Republican Party.
Some of the primary functions and responsibilities of his office include conducting and coordinating international and state matters, regulating and monitoring elections, and solving border cases. The Secretary of State office also serves as the Principal Adviser to the President. Based on these responsibilities, Pablos serves as an adviser to governor Abbot especially on matters based on the U.S. Foreign Policy. His office also plays a critical role when it comes to conducting negotiations with other State Governments as well as advising the governor on appointment issues.
Attorney General
Warren Kenneth Paxton is serving as Texas’s Attorney General. He was born in the year 1962, December 23rd. Now he is 54 years old. He joined the office of the Attorney General on January 5th, 2015. He has served the State for almost three years. His professional background alternates between politics and law; he is a learned individual. He studied Law at the Baylor University and has experience when it comes to maintaining order (Texas.gov).
Before his appointment as the Attorney General, he was an active member in politics. He has served as a member of the Texas House of Representatives for a considerable length of time starting from the year 2002. The primary functions and duties of the Attorney General’s office are enforcing a law and acting as the chief lawyer of the American Government. The other primary function of the office of the Attorney General includes the fact that it serves as the principal legal advisor to the State Government. Ken Paxton also has an executive responsibility of enforcing the law. Lastly, the Attorney General Paxton has the power to exercise on prosecutions since he is the Director of Public Prosecutions.
