The Neoclassical and Contemporary Art of ancient Europe
Neo classical art started in the neo classicism in Europe around 1750 and persisted up to the nineteenth century. Its aim was to preserve cultural beliefs of the ancient Greece and Rome. Modern day art also became spectacular when the Second World War ended in the twentieth century (Facos 32).
Shared Values in the Two Types of Art
Both neoclassical and contemporary art have shared some ideals and important values that they express. First, the two types of art can emphasize on the culture that existed during the time of the art. The artists came up with the artworks so as to express the political and social conditions of their time. The type of colors and resources used in both types of paintings expressed the current mood both politically and socially. When the people were going through a difficult time such as death or defeat in battle, the artists in both regime used dull colors that indicated sorrow. On the other hand, both arts use bright colors when expressing happy moments such as wedding ceremonies.
The two types of art also bring out great inspiration. During the contemporary art era, the artists were mainly glorifying the industrial era by incorporating mechanical methods in their arts such as typesetting and printing. During the neoclassical art period the artists used a lot of resources and emphasized on the need for aesthetic purity in their paintings. Although in this era the art was simple, it was mainly used as a source of inspiration. The need to retain the culture of ancient Greece and Rome was mainly to inspire future generations just like that of the contemporary art era.
