These are not my words
You black am white, you Indian am Africa, you're a kid, so you're obviously better off than a child, all right, these aren't my terms that I know some of you tried to criticize me. Then just take a deep breath and cool down. Is there someone here who has ever been discriminated against or seen someone being discriminated against? Perhaps the last question cannot be that no one here has ever seen discrimination because discrimination in the world today is like a household name. I was both a witness and a survivor of bigotry. There are several different forms of discrimination, ranging from sexual, racial, occupational and ethnic discrimination. In this speech focusing on workplace discrimination and its effects to the employees. The main points are the:
1. Types of discrimination in the workplace
2. How the discrimination can affect the employees.
3. Laws that protect against it.
Types of discrimination in the workplace. Discrimination in the workplace they are so many types . one can be discriminated due to age when applying for work or even requesting for promotion. One can even get lesser treatment due to his or her age in the working place and this usually affects the middle age employees favoring the young age. The employers always believe that young minds can be of help due to their energy and innovative minds (badawi 12). The other type of discrimination is that of discriminating a qualified individual due to his or her disability. Some employers always have a notion that when one is impaired he or she cannot really deliver his or her expectation in the duty assigned. They are so many types of discrimination in the workplace ranging from genetic information and equal payment.
How the discrimination can affect the employees. The discrimination really affects the employees and not only the employees even the employers, the company and the relationship between the company and the society (badawi 23). The discrimination to the employees really is intense because can lose his or her job or not getting a position in a certain company and even miss the opportunity of getting a promotion. This can psychologically affect an individual thinking that he or she is not qualified enough for the position to be entrusted by the job. Emotionally affect the individual by losing self-esteem and confidence in one self. It can also effect the financial status of somebody by being jobless and ending up being bankrupt. The discrimination affects the company reputation because it will be viewed biased and gets bad feedback from the society.
Laws that are made to protect people against the discrimination. Different states has their lawmakers making laws that protects it citizens against discrimination in the workplace. Taking an example America there are laws made like setting up commission [ The United States Employment Opportunity Commission] this commission prohibits employers against discriminating applicants and employees.
Effects of discrimination is important and relevant to know because discrimination is an issue affecting people worldwide (badgett 18). The different types of discrimination in the workplace and how it affects the employees and laws or actions put together to protect one from such discrimination. Explaining the discrimination is what was all about. It is important for you to know the discrimination at workplace because in ones lifetime will look for a job or get employed or even be an employer of people so you will never want to be involved in any part of workplace discrimination. i had to cover this discrimination because I have been a witness of workplace discrimination one of my friend was physically impaired and when he went to apply for a job in a particular company and was not taken or even being shortlisted because of his disability not taken to consideration he was qualified for that job (jitendra 6). This in formation impacts us with knowledge that even in the workplace one can experience discrimination.
